Eczema psoriasis


        Eczema and psoriasis are particularly tough and embarrassing diseases for people who are undernourished. Firstly because it scratched, partly because it is visible and unsightly. The causes are still poorly defined. For psoriasis it seems there is a genetic cause and some external factors such as stress, are triggered. For eczema, the cause is somewhat allergic. Eczema, also called dermatitis occurs in different forms. It is an inflammation of the skin accompanied by redness, flaky skin and fine vesicles. Itching is often associated with these phenomena. Eczema in its various forms represents 1 / 3 of the consultations in dermatology.

        There are different forms of eczema:

  • Allergic eczema which is the most common. In this case the immune system reacts to an allergen.
  • Contact Dermatitis: appears in repeated contact with irritants.
  • Seborrheic Eczema appears in the scalp and forms scaly patches, which may extend to the face or chest.
  • Varicose Eczema: affects peronnes with varicose veins. It causes swelling, itching and flaky skin.

        Psoriasis is a very common skin condition (6% of the population). It is characterized by the appearance of thick, reddish patches covered with silvery scales. The concerned regions of the body will often be the elbows, knees, scalp, buttocks or lower back.
There are different kinds of psoriasis:

  • Psoriasis Vulgaris: The most common form, with plaques as defined above
  • Guttate psoriasis: smaller plaque, scattered on the body. Often before age 20, or after a disease or ENT. It disappears gradually.
  • Psoriasis of the scalp such as psoriasis vulgaris, cause itching, scaling and even bleeding.
  • Nummular Psoriasis: plates with size of a coin.
  • Inverse psoriasis (psoriasis folds): slightly scaly plaques located in the folds of the skin.
