Guttate psoriasisThe Pityriasis lichenoides also called guttate psoriasis is a rare inflammatory dermatosis of unknown etiology characterized by multiple and recurrent erythematous scaly papule. The chronic form presents reddish, dome-shaped, elevated, symmetrically distributed papules, which are expanded, flattened and slightly desquamated at the surface. The skin changes are less marked than in the acute form. The disease may present lesions that appear or disappear continuously for weeks, months or even years. The plates, which appear suddenly, are much smaller, scattered on the body and look like drops of water. This form of psoriasis is most common in people under 20 years and often follows a common infection (nasopharyngitis ). It can be confused with an infectious rash (varicella, secondary syphilis) or with multiple insect stings. It usually regresses spontaneously, but may evolve into a classical form. Guttate psoriasis picturesNote that in some cases psoriasis outbreaks may be much smaller and take the form of drops. It seems that psoriasis affects preferably children and adolescents and often occurs after a sore throat or other throat infections. Psoriasis may be located on the elbows, knees, joints in general, but also back on the scalp (then called psoriasis of the scalp) or nails, or in more serious cases across the body. Your doctor will advise what the therapeutic strategy you should to adopt. |
