        There are three factors which affect the onset of psoriasis

  • Heredity: This family history of psoriasis is more frequent when the psoriasis starts early in life.
  • Psychological trauma is often found before the onset of an outbreak of psoriasis.
  • ENT infections (especially streptococcal) can trigger psoriasis, especially in children, and especially the form called "guttate psoriasis".

Psoriasis skin in all its forms

        Red patches, itching .... But we too often confuse this disease with other skin problems. There is no one but psoriasis: plaque, guttate, scalp, nails, etc.. Each form is more or less troublesome, and requires appropriate treatment. Lesions can be deceiving

Special psoriasis skin forms

  • Psoriasis of the face is often enhanced by the sun;
  • Psoriasis of the nail;
  • The palmoplantar psoriasis;
  • The generalized erythrodermic psoriasis with impaired general condition;
  • Pustular psoriasis.

        Psoriatic arthritis produces a chronic arthritis or a table resembling ankylosing spondylitis. The lesions predominate in finger joints and spine. Skin lesions may occur before, during or after the onset of joint pain.

Nummular psoriasis

        The plates are the size of a coin, hence the name (a numismatist collects coins). These lesions can be confused with those caused by a fungus (dermatophytes) or an infection (staphylococcal).

Psoriasis "vulgar"

        This form, the most common, is characterized by several red inches patches. They can sit anywhere on the skin, but with prime areas: elbows, knees, lumbar (lower back), buttocks and scalp. Involvement is often bilateral (2 elbows or knees for example 2). Psoriasis often affects the face. The diagnosis is less clear when the plates are on the mend. From the shape of a ring (central healing, persistence of a red circle), they can be confused with a fungus for example.
